WWDC

First Apple WWDC Banner Shows Up

This banner was spotted in Moscone West, 5 days before the start of Apple's WWDC. As you can see, the focus of the event seems to be the App Store with this banner reading "One year later. Light-years ahead".

That makes me wonder what Apple might announce about the App Store, besides the in-app purchase already announced a few months ago.

You can see more of these pictures on Adam Jackson's Flickr stream.

Apple Greediness Shows Again

Once again, Apple proves to be pretty greedy as it wants to charge you twice for applications you've already purchased. This pop up window was spotted on a few iPhone over the weekend and it suggests that Apple will charge you again if you decide to download over the air an app you already paid for in the past. As an alternative, you can download the app for free if you do so from your computer.

Is Apple greedy? Or is AT&T asking Apple to do that in order to reduce the load on the network? I know for sure Apple is greedy but charging for "re-downloads" doesn't really make sense. With the WWDC coming up next week, I guess we'll find an answer to these questions sooner rather than later.

iPhone Nano Rumor: My Take On It

If you've read the Apple-related news within the last few days, you must have heard the latest rumor about an iPhone Nano coming out in June. The rumor also says that the iPhone Nano will be available in China first, and then will come to the US.

I predict that the iPhone Nano will be announced this year at Apple's WorldWide Developers Conference in June. I also predict that the iPhone Nano will be available in the US the month following the announcement (July).

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense that Apple would launch a product in a foreign country first, especially in China.

As usual, I would love to read your thoughts on this so please feel free to leave a comment!

WWDC 2008 Live Coverage

Here are some of the tech people who will be covering WWDC 2008. Most awaited is of course Steve Jobs keynotes about the 3G iPhone. I am not sure Apple will be streaming the event live but I know for sure that you will be able to see the video of the keynotes later that day from Apple.com and you can also download it as a podcast.
