Jailbreaking iPhones and installing jailbreak tweaks is your job. Sharing the latest news and releases with you is ours.
MisakaX, the latest project by former Misaka project developer @straight_tamago and a SparseRestore exploit-based device customization tool for iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 16.0 and later, received even more important updates this past week with new features and improvements.
Just last week, we told you about the SparseRestore-based Nugget iPhone & iPad customization tool that works on iOS & iPadOS 17.0 and later. Nugget uses the same exploit that the TrollRestore utility uses to install TrollStore, but instead of installing TrollStore, you could use it to make jailbreak tweak-like modifications on non-jailbreakable firmware.
The RootHide Procursus-based bootstrap for TrollStore-enabled iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 14.0-17.0 received an update on Friday that brings the tweak injecting utility for apps up to version 1.2.6 beta.
Once a longstanding favorite of the jailbreak community for customizing the Status Bar with third-party icons, the Zeppelin jailbreak tweak was never updated to take advantage of the latest rootless jailbreak tools for iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16.
It was just this week that iOS developers @straight_tamago and @Little_34306 released MisakaX — a SparseRestore-based device customization utility for macOS and Windows that gives users a graphical user interface as opposed to a command line interface.
A popular concept in the iPhone jailbreak community for an exceptionally long time has been allowing users to organize their Home Screen’s app icons anywhere in a grid that they wish without iOS automatically snapping those icons to the next empty space.
Ever European Union-based regulators shook things up for Apple, the Cupertino-based company is now forced to allow third-party App Stores such as AltStore PAL and the Epic Games Store in the EU. Sadly, these experiences aren’t available anywhere else in the world because Apple predictably region-locked them to the EU.
The TrollRestore utility that recently made waves as the first public TrollStore installer for iOS & iPadOS 17.0 is being used for a lot more than just TrollStore, it seems. The SparseRestore exploit that it’s taking advantage of is already being used by the MisakaX device customization tool, as well as a similar project called Nugget by iOS developer LeminLimez – the same developer who brought us Cowabunga and Cowabunga Lite.
You may remember the once popular Misaka package manager app by iOS developer @straight_tamago, which could be used in conjunction with the Kernel File Descriptor (KFD) exploit on compatible handsets to customize non-jailbroken devices.
The RootHide Procursus-based bootstrap received an update to version 1.2.5 this week, and it could not have come at a better time considering TrollStore users finally have an installation method for iOS & iPadOS 17.0 by way of TrollRestore.
Many jailbreakers and non-jailbreakers alike are familiar with the TrollStore perma-signing utility, which utilizes a CoreTrust exploit in iOS & iPadOS 14.0-16.6.1 and 17.0 to permanently install .ipa files as System apps with elevated permissions.
