delete all settings

A new bug has been discovered in iOS 8 that will indadvertedly delete iCloud Drive documents. MacRumors reports that selecting the ‘Reset All Settings’ option from the Reset menu in the Settings app of iOS 8 will erase iWork-related files in iCloud Drive.

The issue here is that when the ‘Reset All Settings’ option is selected, users are specifically told that “no data or media will be deleted.” But that doesn’t seem to be the case with iOS 8, as MacRumors says it has confirmed the process is also deleting select files.

Again, these deleted files seem to be limited to iWork documents, so if you don’t use these apps, you really have nothing to worry about. However, those who do use iWork be warned, as there is not an easy way to restore deleted iCloud Drive files without a backup.

It’s really best to avoid using the ‘Reset All Settings’ option for right now, until we can verify the issue has been fixed. At this time, users are able to access iCloud Drive files via iCloud.com, but the service won’t be fully functional until OS X Yosemite lands next month.

Have you noticed your iWork documents disappearing in iCloud Drive after using ‘Reset All Settings?’

no wonder my notes were gone!

I recently used the reset option myself and then read this article. I then checked Pages and indeed every document seemed to be gone. I freaked out and thought this was really bad.

I then waited a while closed Pages and launched the app again. Then documents started to reappear. With so many devices pulling data from iCloud, the service is probably a little stressed. Restoring devices from iCloud seems to take forever, with estimated time of around 8 hours. But then suddenly it catches up and restores quite quickly.

So no, there isn’t a bug, it that just takes a while for documents to download from iCloud. Don’t panic everything is still there!!!

Well there’s only one way to find out if it works delete my pages app then try it.

Please people let’s take it easy on Apple. I think they have got enough at their hands already. I’m not saying they’re doing well either… I think we should slow down with all the error reports and stuffs from bend gates. May God save Apple from this troubles.

    • Der Faust

      baited…….3……2…….1…….GO!

    • Ethan Mahmood

I think they should still have error reports etc, but seriously – Apple should come out and say a massive Fuck-you to every hater 😛

This has got to be the most shambolic Apple product renewal series ever. What a joke. This is an even bigger joke than the way the iPhone 4 got leaked

    So they tell me…

    • N&LH

everyone makes mistakes…still far better than Microsoft when it comes to software updates

      • Says every die-hard Apple fanboy when herd master Apple makes a mistake…

      • N&LH

First I did not say Apple does not make mistakes..I have no idea how did you come up with this!!…If you read my previous comment well, you notice this what I wrote “everyone makes mistakes”..

        You are just a hater….

“Says every die-hard Microsoft fanboy when herd master Microsoft makes a mistake…”..

Read comments well before accusing others

      • I’m not basing on just your previous comment old man, you and many other die-hard fans on here have made that same statement of “when Apple does something, they do it right” over the past years, which here on earth implies they can’t do something wrong (i.e. a mistake).

When they do something wrong, you begin damage control saying others make mistakes too or bring in some other company and say their response to the mistake is better…subjective as that is, it’s just how die-hard Apple fanboys have been; hypocritical.

        Keep up the damage control…

      • N&LH

“you and many other fans on here have made that same statement of “when Apple does something, they do it right” over the past years, which implies they can’t do something wrong (i.e. a mistake).”….You are not allowed to judge what people are saying…

People write any comment they want…

“you and many other fans”…I did not say that…

If you don’t like what other people comments then it is up to you

      • “You are not allowed to judge what people are saying…”

Really? Is that what Apple told you? No wonder…

        “I did not say that…”

If only you had the courage to make your comment history unprivate and not delete any of such comments…then I’d be able to prove that to be false. So far, it’s just your word vs. my word.

      • “You are not allowed to judge what people are saying…”

Really? Is that what Apple told you? No wonder…

        “I did not say that…”

Save the hypocritical pretending for someone else old man (http://bit ly/1xAhHZi)…

      • N&LH

Yeah when I said that I did not say “Apple does not do mistakes at all”……Again this is not your business to judge what people are saying…If you don’t like it…Who cares

“Save the hypocritical pretending for someone else old man”…You are disrespectful person and hater

    someone gets fire soon

This is what happens when you overextend yourself. Apple has put its hands in too many baskets and now quality and attention to detail is suffering.

  • Wow, kinda sucks to be the person who discovered this bug. Wonder how much work they lost

Apple should of ironed out iOS 8 before releasing…
