Fall asleep to music often? If so, Sleepizy 2 can improve the experience

It’s no secret that you can use your iPhone to fall asleep to your favorite music, but the way it’s implemented by Apple from the factory is intensely restricted. More specifically, users only get the option to set a timer that, after it ends, causes any music playback to end.

All I’ve really got to say to that is, “meh.” Amirite?

Sleepizy 2 by iOS developer AnthoPak is a jailbreak tweak that extends iPhone music playback options to make it easier and more comfortable for users to fall asleep to their favorite tracks. As the name rightly suggests, Sleepizy 2 is a full rewrite of the original Sleepizy tweak, a popular release that launched about two years ago.

Among the things you can do with Sleepizy 2 are set a timer to end music playback directly from Control Center via the dedicated media module in iOS 14.2 and later, enjoy new ways to determine when music playback should end (number of minutes, number of tacks, etc.), control music playback fade-out, enable features of iOS when music playback ends, and much more.

As you’ll see in the screenshot examples above, Sleepizy 2 offers a variety of different ways to configure when music playback should end. Options include after a user-designated number of tracks and/or after a timer runs out, and all of this can be set from Control Center, which is easily accessed from anywhere in iOS.

When the music playback is set to end, users can then have specific features of iOS automatically turn on, such as Do Not Disturb mode or Airplane Mode, which can be helpful if you’ve fallen asleep after your music playback as planned.

Once installed, Sleepizy 2 adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure the tweak to their liking:

Options here include:

  • Toggling Sleepizy 2 on or off on demand
  • Choosing the Sleepizy 2 end playback mode:
    • Timer-based
    • Number of song-based
    • Both
  • Configuring Timer mode
  • Configuring number of songs mode
  • Choosing what happens when you start a timer
  • Choosing what happens when you end a timer
  • Display an indicator below the time that shows how much longer before music playback ends
  • Enable or disable use of Sleepizy 2 from the minimized Control Center media player

Digging deeper, here’s what you can expect from the Timer and Number of Songs mode preference panes:

In the Timer preference pane, users can configure things like the default timer value in minutes, the picker step value in minutes, the music fade-out duration in seconds, and whether the song can finish or not if the timer runs out first.

In the Number preference pane, users may choose how many songs will be allowed to play before playback ceases.

Looking more at the on timer start and on timer end preference panes, we have even more options

In the On Timer Start preference pane, users can:

  • Enable Airplane Mode
  • Enable Do Not Disturb mode
  • Run the Sleepizy Start shortcut (requires Apple’s Shortcuts app to create a workflow)
  • Enable and configure a custom volume level

In the On Timer End preference pane, users can:

  • Enable Airplane Mode
  • Enable Do Not Disturb mode
  • Run the Sleepizy End shortcut (requires Apple’s Shortcuts app to create a workflow)
  • Enable and configure what happens with Bluetooth devices:
    • Disconnect all Bluetooth devices
    • Disconnect specific Bluetooth devices
    • Disable Bluetooth
    • Specify Bluetooth device names if you’ll be disconnecting from specific one(s)
  • Force-close the Now Playing app

Without a shadow of a doubt, those who fall asleep to their favorite music have a lot more to gain from the Sleepizy 2 jailbreak tweak than they do from Apple’s stock timer-based playback option in the Clock app. With all the options above, you can enjoy wicked powerful automation of handy features and fall asleep to your music at the same time.

Jailbreakers who’d like to go hands-on with Sleepizy 2 can purchase the tweak for $1.99 from the Packix repository via their favorite package manager. If you already own the original, then you can snag Sleepizy 2 for 50% off. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices.
