Apple TV+ shares the official trailer for thriller ‘Lisey’s Story’ ahead of June 4 premiere date

It has been a long time in the works, but we’re finally nearing the premiere date for the limited series Lisey’s Story from Stephen King.

The series was first announced back in 2019. But it wasn’t until February of this year that we got a first-look image of the series. And then, in April, we learned that the show will premiere on Friday, June 4, 2021. Which leads us to today and we finally get the official trailer.

The trailer measures in at about three minutes, so there’s plenty of footage. In it, we get to see the lead, Julianne Moore in her character Lisey Landon, as she experiences spooky things following the death of her author husband, Scott Landon, played by Clive Owen. A series of “disturbing events” will revive memories of her marriage, and, ultimately, show Lisey a truth she never could have imagined.

Lisey’s Story will also star Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Annihilation), and Ron Cephas Jones (This is Us). The screenplay was written by Stephen King, with the story based on his original novel. King recently spoke about the story:

One thing I wanted to say was that with a person who is famous, it can be so bright that they have a tendency to eclipse the people who stand the closest them,’ King said. ‘But Tabby is responsible for so much of what I have done, and she’s been so supportive of me over the years. It isn’t a love letter to her, because that would be a little bit embarrassing for me, and it would be horribly embarrassing for her. But certainly everything that I know in all my experience in marriage has been positive. And that’s in there.

This story is personal for King, and that’s why he decided to write the entirety of the limited series. King’s typically hands-off when it comes to adaptations, but he decided to go a different route with this one. He picked up support from director/writer/producer J.J. Abrams (Super 8), who will be producing this one through his production company Bad Robot for Apple TV+.

Now that we have the first official trailer, are you looking forward to checking this one out when it premieres in June?
