Arizona lets jailbreakers reposition the Lock Screen’s date and time

While Apple has experimented with bolder and lighter fonts for the Lock Screen’s date and time display over the years, one thing that certainly hasn’t changed would be the position of this element.

Arizona working on iOS 16.

For as long as I can remember, the Lock Screen’s date and time display has been centered somewhere within the top 1/3 of the display. Apple doesn’t provide any options in iOS for customizing the Lock Screen’s date and time display positioning, and with that in mind, it may come as no surprise that the jailbreak community has developed its own means of doing so.

Arizona is a free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Luki120 that imbues users with the ability to reposition the Lock Screen’s date and time display however they wish:

In the screenshot examples above, you can see that we’ve used Arizona to adjust the position of the Lock Screen’s date and Time display in a few different ways — both different from iOS’ native centered, top-1/3 aesthetic. In one example, we align it to the right side of the screen, while in the other example, we align it down and to the left.

Our examples aren’t meant to look pretty, but rather to demonstrate the capabilities offered by Arizona. Surely, users will be able to achieve more aesthetically pleasing results upon tinkering with Arizona’s extensive feature set, which can be found in the Settings app post installation:

Options to configure for Arizona.

Here, you can:

  • Toggle the Arizona tweak on or off on demand
  • Choose your preferred Lock Screen date and time display positioning:
    • Left
    • Center
    • Right
  • Enable custom Lock Screen date and time display positioning
  • Adjust individually with two sliders the X and Y positioning of the Lock Screen’s date and time display
  • Lock the Glyph positioning
  • And more…

Changes appear to take effect on the fly without a respring, and as such, a respring button isn’t provided in the preference pane. It is worth noting, however, that we did need to lock and unlock the device a few times for most of the changes to take effect.

Whether you’re trying to align your Lock Screen’s date and time display to fit your theme or you’ve just always hated where Apple puts it out of the box in iOS, Arizona offers some much-needed customization in this department that’s sure to make a lot of jailbreakers happy.

Those interested in trying Arizona can download it for free from Luki120’s personal repository via their favorite package manager. Furthermore, the tweak supports pwned iOS 13, 14, 15, and 16 devices and is open source on the developer’s GitHub page.

If you’re not already using Luki’s personal repository, then you can add it to your package manager app by using the URL provided below:
