Alternate your iPhone’s Status Bar time indicator between the date and time with TimeStamp

The iPhone’s Status Bar has always been home to a time indicator  so that you can always glance there from any interface you might be using to see what time it is. But how many times have you found yourself wondering what the date is — just to find yourself going back to the Home Screen or Lock Screen to check?

I’ve long wondered why the iPhone’s Status Bar didn’t display the date in addition to the time, and interestingly enough, iPadOS now does this natively. This begs the question of why a similar feature isn’t yet available for the iPhone or iPod Touch, especially with the extra vertical real estate afforded by the device’s notch.

If you’re jailbroken, then the good news is you won’t have to wait for Apple to implement an official solution. TimeStamp is a new and free jailbreak tweak by developer ETHN that forces the Status Bar’s time display on notched handsets alternate between the time and the date once every ten seconds.

In the screenshot examples above, you can see what TimeStamp looks like as it compels the Status Bar to switch between the time and date indicators. The new date indicator is displayed in mm/dd format. It’s worth noting that this differs from the iPadOS Status Bar, which displays the date as Sat Apr 10 instead of just 4/10.

TimeStamp doesn’t come with any options to configure, and if you’re interested in being able to see the date in addition to the time in the Status Bar without adding any additional clutter, then this could be the way to go. Personally, I appreciate this layout more than having the date crammed right below the time as some other tweaks do.

TimeStamp is available as a free download from ETHN’s personal repository via any package manager of your choosing. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 iPhones as long as they have a notch.

Those who aren’t already using ETHN’s personal repository can add it to their favorite package manager with the following URL:
