It’s important to have a passcode on your iPhone or iPad because it helps keep your information safe by ensuring that only an authenticated user is able to access your apps and personal data. But have you ever found yourself annoyed about the fact that you’re asked to authenticate yourself after respringing your jailbroken handset?
Typically when you’re respringing a device, you’re doing it because you just installed a new jailbreak tweak or because you just applied new settings to an already-installed tweak. In both cases, having to enter your passcode to get back to what you were doing is an extra step that most users would probably prefer to do without.
For that reason, iOS developer Brend0n’s has released a free jailbreak tweak called NoPassAfterRespring (Safe) that makes it so that users won’t have to authenticate themselves after respringing their device. Further, your handset won’t even display the Lock Screen after a respring — it automatically takes you straight to the Home Screen.
To be fair, we should mention that Brend0n’s new tweak is an alternate version of an existing add-on dubbed NoPassAfterRespring by @_AppleExpert_, however Brend0n’s says that his version is theoretically safer because it does not modify any system files to operate. In case you aren’t aware of what that means, modifying certain system files can sometimes lead to device instabilities, so it’s best not to touch them when it can be avoided.
I can personally attest to the concept behind NoPassAfterRespring (Safe) because I install and play around with so many jailbreak tweaks on a daily basis that being able to skip the authentication step saves a small amount of time. Still, a small amount of time repeating over and over again adds up after a while.
