The Dock is a place on your Home Screen to store some of your favorite apps. Its useful because it follows you from one page to the next so that you don’t have to go out of your way to search for those specific apps in the future.
I use my Dock all the time, but I certainly wish Apple offered a little more in the customization department. For that reason, I can recommend a new jailbreak tweak called DockX Reborn by iOS developer Mudi47 to anyone who feels the same way I do.
The screenshot examples below depict some of the different things you can accomplish with the DockX Reborn tweak:
Some of the things you’ve probably noticed, from left to right, are the lack of a Dock background, a custom image as the Dock’s background, and an older-style Dock aesthetic that you might recall if you’ve ever used an iPhone with a Home Button before. The tweak is capable of a whole lot more, so you’ll want to read on to learn more.
Upon installing DockX Reborn, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:
Options here include:
- Toggling the modern Dock aesthetic on or off on demand
- Hiding or showing the Dock background on demand
- Enabling or disabling the older style Dock on demand
- Enabling and configuring a custom Dock background color
- Enabling and selecting a custom Dock background image
Users will need to Respring their device each toke they make changes to the settings. This can be achieved with the More button at the top-right of the preference pane.
