Given that iOS devices continue to be some of the best music players on the market today, it’s not surprising that we continue to see more and more jailbreak tweaks for pwned handsets that try to out-do Apple at their own game, or at the very least, offer a level of personalization for the end user that otherwise wouldn’t be available on a stock handset.
For those wanting to expand on Apple’s award-winning music player experience, a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Spectral by iOS developer Beckett O’Brien just might be of interest.
In the simplest of terms, Spectral offers a modern alternative to the Lock Screen’s native Now Playing music player, and it even offers a built-in animated audio visualizer to help you synergize with the beat of whatever it is you might be listening to at any given time.

Spectral offers a lot of customization for the end user, all of which can be found in a dedicated preference pane added to the Settings app post-installation:
Here, you can:
- Toggle Spectral on or off on demand
- Hide or show the music progress bar
- Enable and configure a custom progress bar color
- Hide or show the Play/Pause buttons
- Hide or show the Skip/Back buttons
- Enable or disable the tap and hold gesture
- Adjust the blur level of the album artwork
- Enable or disable the audio visualizer on demand
- Adjust the sensitivity level of the audio visualizer via a slider
- Adjust the number of points in the audio visualizer via a slider
- Choose between automatic, custom, or color cycle coloring for the audio visualizer
- Adjust the alpha level of the audio visualizer via a slider
- Enable or disable a Bluetooth sensitivity boost
- Disable features in Low Power Mode to save battery life
- Reset all settings to their defaults
- And more…
Once you’ve configured Spectral to your personal liking, you’ll want to use the Respring button at the top-right of the preference pane to save any changes you’ve made.
We think Spectral offers great advantages over Apple’s native Lock Screen music player for a myriad of reasons, but aesthetics is definitely at the top of that list. Those interested in giving the tweak a try can purchase it for $1.49 via the Chariz repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 13 and 14 devices.
