Apple releases macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 with a fix for some MacBooks connected to non-compliant docks and hubs

It hasn’t even been a month since Apple released the last update for macOS Big Sur, but Apple’s back with another. This one’s designed for certain MacBook models, and it’s available now.

Apple on Thursday released macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 to the public. It’s an update to address a specific bug, at least based on Apple’s release notes for the new software. And, as mentioned above, it comes a short period of time after Apple’s previous bug fixing update.

macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 is available now as a free update. It can be downloaded over-the-air via the System Preferences app on eligible Mac models.

As far as the release notes are concerned, Apple says this new software is designed to prevent 2019 or later MacBook Pro models, as well as 2020 and newer MacBook Air models from being damaged when they are connected to non-compliant third-party docks and hubs. These are USB-C accessories in this case.

There were complaints circulating in some social media circles regarding this issue. But it looks like Apple was relatively quick to patch it.

The new software is available now.
