When Apple launched the iPhone 12 lineup, the company also reintroduced MagSafe as a magnetic wireless charging and accessory feature. This means you can attach things like a wireless charger or even a case to the iPhone 12 and it will magnetically attach. But, like other Apple features, it doesn’t mean that every third-party company is going to use MagSafe for their magnetic accessories.
Take, for example, Anker. The company just launched a brand new portable wireless charger for the iPhone 12 lineup, and it features magnets to attach to the back of the selected handset. However, it is not a MagSafe accessory. It will work with other MagSafe-compatible accessories, so you can charge your phone while you have a case on the phone, for instance.
Even without MagSafe, the magnetic wireless portable charger will still attach easily and quickly to the back of an iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max. Once attached, the portable charger can juice up the iPhone or just keep it topped up, based on what the user needs at the time.
The portable pack boasts a 5,000mAh battery, and it can wirelessly charge an iPhone 12 up to 5W. (Another “downside” for not being a MagSafe wireless charger.) With that, Anker says that it can charge the iPhone 12 mini from 0% to 100 percent, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro from 0% to 95%, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max from 0% to 75%.
When the owner needs to recharge the Anker portable wireless battery pack, that can be done via USB-C.
You’ll get the portable wireless charger in the box and a USB-C to USB-C cable.
The Anker magnetic wireless portable charger is available now from Amazon for $39.99. Shipments will begin in the beginning of April.
