Many modern cars now come standard with CarPlay, a feature that allows iPhone users to interface with certain apps directly from their vehicle’s touch screen-equipped head unit. The only problem, however, is that not all apps support CarPlay.
Jailbreakers who want more out of their CarPlay user experience would do good to try a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed CarPlayEnable by iOS developer Ethan Arbuckle, as it effectively lets iOS 14 users interact with just about any iPhone app they want via CarPlay.
Most of the apps that support CarPlay right out of the box are those that you’d expect to use while driving, such as calling, navigation, or music streaming apps – the ones that either help you get in touch with someone, find your way around, or keep yourself entertained in such a way that your eyes stay on the road.
It may seem obvious to most that video playback apps wouldn’t be available via CarPlay, as they would otherwise distract the driver’s eyes from where they’re needed most. On the other hand, video playback can be a useful thing when parked or trying to entertain yourself during a longer-than-normal wait while picking up your online grocery order.
CarPlayEnable brings this feature to your pwned iPhone, assuming you have a CarPlay-compatible vehicle. With it, you can watch YouTube videos, browse the internet, and do a whole lot more from your car’s dash-mounted display, which is something you probably couldn’t do previously without a third-party hack like this one.
Another notable perk of CarPlayEnable is that it works even when your handset is locked. This means you can continue to watch those videos when your handset inevitably falls asleep.

Obviously, CarPlayEnable doesn’t support all apps. As noted in the tweak’s depiction, DRM content isn’t supported, which means you can’t watch content from Hulu, Netflix, or other DRM-supported apps on your CarPlay-supported head unit. That’s not much of a surprise to us, but we can see how it might turn some users off from the get go.
Those interested in trying CarPlayEnable can download the tweak for free from the BigBoss repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak is only for jailbroken iOS 14 devices, and the source code is available on the developer’s GitHub page.
