Apple shares a new “For All Mankind” featurette ahead of season 2 premiere on February 19

Apple has shared a new featurette for the second season of “For All Mankind,” which is one of the staples of Apple TV+ programming. It’s premiering the next Friday, February 19.

If you’re a fan of sci-fi content and space exploration, you’re undoubtedly going to like “For All Mankind.” This alt-history drama, produced by Sony Pictures Television for Apple, imagines an alternate reality in which the US lost the Space Race to the Soviet Union back in the 1960s.

The show may win you over with its immersive storyline, great acting and polished visuals. The new featurette that Apple shared, embedded right ahead, goes behind the scenes of season 2. The show, created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, is told through the lives of NASA astronauts, engineers and their families.

Season 2 premieres February 19 on Apple’s TV app with an Apple TV+ subscription.

DoD moves into Mission Control

In season 2 of “For All Mankind,” the US Department of Defense moves into Mission Control with the militarization of NASA becoming a central theme. Some characters fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war.

Apple previously shared the trailer for season 2.

Season two picks up a decade later in 1983, according to the description on Apple’s website.

It’s the height of the Cold War and tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their peak. Ronald Reagan is President and the greater ambitions of science and space exploration are at threat of being squandered as the US and Soviets go head to head to control sites rich in resources on the moon.

Apple has reportedly renewed “For All Mankind” for a third season.
