StonksBar displays the price of your favorite stock in the Status Bar

Whether you invest in stocks or you simply have a fascination with monitoring stock value trends over time, a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed StonksBar by iOS developer CokePokes might be of interest to you.

StonksBar ensures that your favorite stock’s value is always in view by implementing a Status Bar-centric display that appears just beneath the time on notched handsets including the iPhone X and later.

If you’re invested in a particular stock, then StonksBar will be helpful to you because it puts that stock’s value in a place that shows almost everywhere in iOS, from the Home Screen to the Lock Screen to various app interfaces (excluding full-screen apps, of course).

Users of StonksBar will find that it’s particularly non-intrusive and that it appears in a manner that doesn’t interfere with the native user experience. Although it adds another line of text to the Status Bar, it doesn’t feel like it adds much clutter.

Once installed, StonksBar adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users may configure the tweak to their liking:

Options here include:

  • Toggling StonksBar on or off on demand
  • Entering the code of the particular stock you plan to monitor
  • Adjusting the refresh rate (in seconds) via a slider
  • Respring your device to save any changes you’ve made

In our case, we entered AAPL, the code for Apple’s stock, and that’s what appeared in our Status Bar. In fact, we could open the native Stocks app and verify that the amount was correct as displayed.

If the stock amount doesn’t display in the Status Bar initially after configuring the tweak, then you may need to back out of the preference pane (without respringing) and wait a while for the data to refresh at least once.

Those interested in going hands-on with the new StonksBar tweak can download it for free from the CokePokes’ repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices, and from what we can gather, it’s only intended for handsets that have a notch due to the configuration of the Status Bar.

If you aren’t already using CokePokes’ repository, then you can add it to your package manager of choice with the following URL:
