Later this year, Apple is probably going to announce a new iPhone lineup. Long before that happens, though, the rumor mill wants to paint us a picture. Like, for instance, what improvements Apple might make to the camera systems.
At least, analysts from Barclays want to help us with that, anyway. MacRumors was able to get their hands on an investors note penned by analysts Blayne Curtis and Thomas O’Malley, which speculates about Apple’s incoming camera improvements. The analysts believe Apple will upgrade the Ultra Wide camera on the back of the incoming iPhone 13, bumping the aperture from f/2.4 to f/1.8.
This is actually not the first time these numbers have been tossed around. If you’ll recall, back in November analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculated in an investors note to TF International Securities that Apple will upgrade the Ultra Wide camera in the incoming iPhone, too. And, indeed, Kuo said that Apple would bump the camera to f/1.8.
This would improve overall low-light performance in the Ultra Wide camera, which would be a welcomed change for an already impressive camera system.
But wait, there’s more
That’s not all the Barclays analysts predicted in their latest note. The report also indicates that they believe Apple will expand camera features to more iPhones this year. Specifically, the analysts believe Apple will adopt the iPhone 12 Pro Max‘s better Telephoto camera in the iPhone 13 Pro.
Meanwhile, the analysts believe Apple will keep the display sizes for its range of iPhones this year. So no changes there quite yet.
