CoolStar updates libhooker to v1.4.0 with new configurator app

Jailbreakers taking advantage of the iOS 13-centric Odyssey tool or the checkra1n-based Odysseyra1n bootstrap on iOS 13 or 14 will almost certainly want to launch Sileo and refresh their sources.

In a message bulletin shared to the official Sileo / Odyssey / Chimera Discord channel early Tuesday morning, CoolStar announced the release of libhooker version 1.4.0 with a host of notable improvements for users using either of the aforementioned jailbreaks.

From what we can gather, the most significant change in libhooker v1.4.0 is the introduction of a dedicated configurator app, which permits the user to fine-tune their device’s tweak injection behavior however they see fit:

Among the things users can do with the libhooker configurator are:

– Toggle tweak injection on or off on the fly
– Toggle tweak injection on or off for web pages (tweaks that hook into WebKit)
– Individually toggle specific tweaks on or off on demand
– Individually configure SpringBoard, Application, and Daemon processes
– View installed versions of Odyssey and libhooker
– And more…

For those who aren’t already aware, libhooker is the proprietary tweak injection method used by the Chimera, Odyssey, and Odysseyra1n jailbreaks. It serves essentially the same purpose as Substitute or Cydia Substrate on competing jailbreaks, enabling those tweaks to hook into system processes and perform the modifications they’re designed to do.

The refreshed version of libhooker with its dedicated configurator app comes about a month after the launch of Substitute v2.0 and later, which also includes its own dedicated app for user configuration, albeit not as granular as those options provided by the latest version of libhooker.

If you’re using a jailbroken iOS 13 or 14 device by way of Odyssey or Odysseyra1n, then you can download and install the latest version of libhooker along with libhooker configurator (a separate package) starting today from the Sileo package manager. Those using other jailbreaks besides those mentioned above will not see the update.
