Apple TV+ shares a first look featurette for the upcoming drama ‘Palmer’ ahead of January 29 premiere

In July of 2020, news broke that Justin Timberlake (Trolls) would star in an upcoming drama called Palmer, and that the film would premiere on Apple TV+. It wouldn’t be until December of last year that we saw the official trailer. Now, ahead of its launch date, Apple’s launched a featurette to remind us the film’s coming soon.

While serving as a reminder, it also shows off the tone and the story for the upcoming drama. Timberlake stars as Eddie Palmer, who returns home after 12 years in prison. He was a high school football star in his local town, but things don’t go so smoothly when he returns home. Palmer forms a bond with a local boy, Sam, but Palmer’s own past comes back to haunt him and those around him.

Here’s Apple’s description of the upcoming film, which is set to premiere on January 29, 2021:

After 12 years in prison, former high school football star Eddie Palmer returns home to put his life back together—and forms an unlikely bond with Sam, an outcast boy from a troubled home. But Eddie’s past threatens to ruin his new life and family. Coming exclusively to Apple TV+ on January 29.

And here’s the first look featurette, which Apple shared today:

It’s only a couple of minutes long, but it definitely shows off the tone for the upcoming film.

Palmer is directed by Fisher Stevens (Short Circuit), and Cheryl Guerriero is the writer. It’s being produced by Daniel Nadler, Charlie Corwin, Sidney Kimmel, John Penotti, and Charles B. Wessler. Ryder Allen will be making his feature film debut in the upcoming movie, while Oscar-nominee June Squibb (Nebraska), Juno Temple (Horns), and Alisha Wainwright (Raising Dion) will be co-starring alongside Timberlake.

Are you planning on checking this one out when it lands later this week?
