Substitute receives another update, this time to version 2.0.6

Sam Bingner of team unc0ver published yet another update for Substitute on Saturday, officially bringing the package up to version 2.0.6.

Substitute was only recently updated to version 2.0, touting notable performance and stability improvements for the tweak injection platform. Today’s update is just one of many released in the past week, with each of those gradually addressing bugs introduced by the latest version.

The official change for Substitute v2.0.6 is posted on the package’s depiction page, and is as follows:

Changes in Substitute 2.0.6 (1/16/2021)

Fix possible edge-case crash of setuid processes on unc0ver arm64e

From what we can gather, the primary reason for Substitute v2.0.6 being released is to address a crash that could occur when using the unc0ver jailbreak on arm64e devices. No other types of devices are referenced in the change log, and thusly, we can only assume that the issue is specific to this particular subset.

If you’re using the unc0ver jailbreak, then the latest version of Substitute should present itself after refreshing your sources via Cydia. Please note that not all jailbreaks use Substitute; Chimera and Odyssey utilize libhooker whereas checkra1n utilizes Cydia Substrate by default.
