Apple extends the free Apple TV+ trial until July 2021

When Apple TV+ launched in 2019, it came along with a pretty good perk for those who purchased new Apple-branded hardware that could stream the new service: a year’s worth of free service.

Apple TV+ launched with a handful of content on November 1, 2019. To help get people watching, Apple offered a year’s worth of a free trial for Apple TV+ to customers who bought devices like a Mac, an iPhone, iPad, or (of course) an Apple TV. Those free trials were supposed to end in November of 2020, but that didn’t happen. Instead, Apple informed customers who took advantage of the deal that their free trial would be extended until February 2021.

And now we’re more than half way through the first month of 2021, and Apple is extending the free trial again.

That’s according to a report today from 9to5Mac. Now, if your free trial was set to expire in February of 2021, it will now be extended to July 2021. That’s an additional nine months of free service to Apple’s video streaming option.

What’s more, for anyone who saw their initial free trial run out today, as of January 15, they will be getting the boost in free service as well:

Any paying subscribers to Apple TV+ monthly plan as of today, January 15, will receive $4.99 store credit for the February to June period, offsetting the cost of their subscription. The same is true for people who currently pay for the Apple One bundle subscription.

This is definitely good news.
