Changes are coming to the Let’s Talk iOS podcast and we want to hear from you

First of all I want to say happy New Year everyone, and thank you so much to those who continue to listen to our weekly podcast. We recently surpassed 370 episodes, and we just wouldn’t be able to do that without your support. That being said, after 7+ years of doing this every week, Sebastien and I felt it was time to switch things up.

Now don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere. But we have been discussing some ideas for a refresh, and at this point in the process we felt it was time to share some of those thoughts with you, and hopefully get some feedback.

Perhaps the biggest and most user-facing change to the podcast will be a new name (and subsequently artwork, etc.). To be honest we were never really in love with “Let’s Talk iOS,” and it’s been a long time since our conversations fit into the ‘iOS-only’ category. So we are looking at rebranding, with a new name that still has roots in tech, but is ambiguous enough that it doesn’t back us into a corner.

As for the podcast itself, we will continue to discuss the latest tech headlines, share recently discovered tips and tricks, and review our favorite new apps and gadgets. We have however talked about tweaking the format a bit to allow for things like recurring segments, guest appearances, greater off-topic discussions and more. The goal here is to keep things fresh and familiar at the same time, which can be a tricky line to walk.

Finally we really want to commit to improving listener engagement. How we’ve managed to make it this far without really paying attention to this area is beyond me, but the important thing is we’ve recognized it, and we would like to try and correct it. This means you’ll start to see things like Q&A segments, listener call-ins, and we’ve even talked about running podcast-only giveaways, as a way of saying thank you to those that tune in.

Ok so now that you know what we are thinking, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re a current listener, what do you think of the changes outlined above? If you are a former (or non) listener, how do you feel about the new direction we are taking and is it enough to earn your ears? And even if you don’t fall into either of these categories, feel free to share with us what you’d like to see in a tech podcast.
