Apple’s new mentorship program for first-generation college students set to launch in 2021

Apple is launching a new mentorship program, this one tuned specifically for college students. And not just any college students, either. This one’s meant for first-generation students setting off to school.

MyHealthyApple was first to notice the new program, which Apple first shed light on before the end of 2020. However, the new mentorship will officially launch in early 2021 — even as Apple is already accepting applications. The company also launched a PDF for “Launch@Apple“, which says the new program is designed for first-generation college freshmen and sophomores majoring in mathematics, data analytics, business, finance, economics, and accounting.

The following qualifications must be met:

  1. In first or second year of college
  2. Parent or legal guardian has not obtained a college degree
  3. Intending to major in finance, economics, accounting or similar discipline relating to business, mathematics, commerce or data analytics and
  4. eager to learn about working in finance in a fast-paced, innovative environment

The program will match a student on a one-to-one basis with an Apple mentor. These mentors will provide resources for opportunities for professional growth and other areas. Paid internships and externships are possible as well. Even job shadowing is a possibility.

Students are currently able to submit applications, and Apple will be accepting them until January 8, 2021. There is a questionnaire that prospects will need to fill out, which includes elements for life challenges and other personal details. The students also need to share their GPA, a résumé, details on their school, and more. Applications need to be submitted to launch@apple.com.
