When making content, being able to share that content can be important. Now, Apple’s making it easier to share to some of the most popular platforms in its first-party apps.
Today, Apple updated a variety of its first-party content creation tools to support a more streamlined sharing option. Specifically, Final Cut Pro, Compressor, and iMovie for Mac have all been updated with the new functionality. Meanwhile, for iOS, both Clips and iMovie were both updated with the same feature.
Apple published a new support document on how to share from each of these apps to YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo. The company notes in the support document that users will be able to tweak some elements of the content they are sharing when they share it, including adjust aspect ratio and much more. However, it depends on the app you’re using to share the content, and where you plan on sharing it.
Here’s one example, when sharing from iMovie:
Use these steps to share from iMovie 10.2.2 or later:
- With your project open in iMovie, click the Share button

- Click YouTube & Facebook.
- Click the Resolution pop-up menu and choose a size for your video.
- Choose a location to save the video file, then click Save.
- With Safari or another web browser, sign in to your YouTube, Facebook, or Vimeo account, then upload the video file.
