Boost the aesthetics of your jailbroken iPhone’s Lock Screen with Heartlines

For some people, the Lock Screen is nothing more than a barrier that resides between the user and the apps on their device. For others, it’s the first interface you see every time you pick up your iPhone. Regardless of which camp you side with, wouldn’t you prefer to look at a more aesthetically pleasing Lock Screen design?

Heartlines is a newly released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Litten that provides three new Lock Screen styles for the iOS platform, and beyond that, it offers a plethora of configuration options that allow users to get the most out of the first interface they see every time they pick up their handset. How’s that for awesome?

The screenshot examples above depict three different examples of what your Lock Screen may look like after installing and configuring Heartlines. From left to right, we see the Strawberry (detailed, left-aligned), Cherry (medium, center-aligned), and Peach (minimal, both left and right-aligned) interface styles. In each instance, the Lock Screen’s interface elements and text are placed differently such to be more attractive to the eyes.

Once installed, Heartlines adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure Heartlines to their liking:

Here, you will be able to:

  • Toggle Heartlines on or off on demand
  • Choose between the Strawberry, Cherry, or Peach Lock Screen layouts
  • Manually choose and override the left, right, or center text alignments
  • Configure the Face ID padlock
  • Configure the Lock Screen text
  • Configure the Lock Screen colors
  • Configure the Weather information
  • Configure the Up Next interface
  • Reset all preferences to their defaults
  • Respring your device to save any changes you make

Given that there are different sections to the Heartlines preference pane, we’ll do what we always do and dig deeper for you down below:

Face ID Lock

In the Face ID Lock preference pane, you can:

  • Hide or show the Face ID padlock on demand
  • Choose to align the Face ID padlock with everything else on your Lock Screen
  • Shrink the Face ID padlock’s size

Text

In the Text preference pane, you can:

  • Enable and choose a custom font for Lock Screen text
  • Configure the time formatting
  • Configure the date formatting

Colors

In the Colors preference pane, you can:

  • Choose a color for the Weather and Next Up event
  • Choose the color manually or use one of three automatic wallpaper-based coloring schemes
  • Choose a color for the Face ID padlock, Time, Date, and other miscellaneous text
  • Choose the color manually or use one of three automatic wallpaper-based coloring schemes
  • Enable or disable Now Playing album artwork-based coloring instead of wallpaper-based for the above

Weather

In the Weather preference pane, you can:

  • Hide or show Weather information on the Lock Screen

Up Next

In the Up Next preference pane, you can:

  • Hide or show Up Next calendar events
  • Show only the first calendar event
  • Show only the first reminder
  • Prioritize reminders over calendar events
  • Configure a date range defining how far in the future to fetch Up Next events
  • Hide Up Next events until after you authenticate (for privacy reasons)
  • Use an Invisible Ink effect to view and dispose of Up Next events (for privacy reasons)

After making the preferred settings to the preference pane, you can tap on the Respring button at the bottom to save all the changes you make. Please note that toggling the tweak on or off will automatically initiate a respring to save your changes.

If you’re interested in giving Heartlines a try on your device, then you can download it for free from Litten’s repository using your preferred package manager. Heartlines supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices and is also open source on the developer’s GitHub page for anyone interested in learning more about how it works.
