Apple should release iOS 15 for public consumption in the fall of 2021. Just don’t expect to run it on the original iPhone SE or your iPhone 6s because support for those devices will be nixed.
Even though the current iOS 14 software includes support for older devices, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the original iPhone SE, the next major iteration to Apple’s mobile operating system is said to drop support for those three Apple smartphones.
That’s according to Israeli website The Verifier, which previously reported some accurate and some inaccurate Apple moves so take this one with a grain of salt. However, The Verifier did correctly report on iOS 14 device support ahead of the WWDC 2020 so keep that in mind, too.
Apple does not build iOS updates with specific device models in mind.

Rather, it optimizes iOS releases for a particular system-on-a-chip that powers specific devices. In other words, iOS 15 will be nixing support for the Apple A9 chip powering the original iPhone SE and the iPhone 6s series, if The Verifier report is anything to go by.
iOS 13 cut off support for the iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, the sixth-generation iPod touch, the first-generation iPad Air and the third-generation iPad mini. As I mentioned earlier, iOS 14 supports all the same iPhone and iPad device models as the previous iOS 13 update.
