Apple is investigating display issues with some iPhone 12 models

It’s rare that a new product launch goes off without a glitch of some kind. Even the iPhone. And, now, it appears that some iPhone 12 owners are experiencing issues with the display of their new phone.

As first reported by MacRumors today, Apple has made it known to its Authorized Service Providers that some iPhone 12 owners are experiencing issues with the display. It appears that some displays are negatively impacted by randomly flickering, a green/gray glow, and other lighting issues. Some are running into a yellow tint problem as well.

The report indicates that Apple is aware of the issue, and that it is currently investigating. Interestingly, the company has informed the service providers not to service any impacted iPhones at this point. At least, for right now. The documentation shared with the Authorized Service Providers suggests they inform customers to stay up to date with the latest version(s) of iOS. That appears to suggest Apple believes it can fix the problem with a software update, rather than rely on hardware replacements.

This situation is not entirely new, either. With the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, some owners experienced a green tint on their displays, too. Apple did indeed fix that problem with a software update to iOS 13.6.1, though. So if Apple can do that again this year, that would be the best possible outcome.

There’s no word on when a software fix might show up. However, Apple will probably try to get a fix out for this as soon as possible.
