Possible AirPods Studio design revealed in the iOS 14.3 beta

Apple yesterday released the first developer beta of the upcoming iOS 14.3 software update for the iPhone and iPad. The software apparently includes an icon that may reveal a possible design for the AirPods Studio, the company’s rumored premium over-ear headphones.

Twitter user Steve Moser found the icon in the iOS 14.3 beta 1, code-named Hawkeye, that could hint at Apple’s unreleased AirTags item trackers and the Beats Studio over-ear headphones.

The AirPods Studio icon in the iOS 14.3 code appears to depict what ressembles a pair of headphones with oval-shaped ear cups along with a padded head band.

MacRumors has more:

The headphone icon and related icons depicting a backpack and a set of luggage are also in iOS 14.3, suggesting that all of the icons are perhaps related to Apple’s upcoming AirTags. We’ve been seeing hints of ‌AirTags‌ in Apple’s software for months now.

Bloomberg says the product has interchangeable ear cups along with active noise cancellation and other features. Apple could also release a costlier model made from premium materials.

Apple has held three events in the past three months and it’s unlikely to hold another event before 2020 wraps up. We may, however, see the AirPods Studio and AirTags before the end of the year in case Apple opts for a quiet launch via a press release. That being said, it’s far more likely that we’ll be seeing these two accessories introduced alongside the next iPad Pro, new Apple Watch bands and other new products at an event in Spring 2021.
