iPhone 12 MagSafe Wallet video hands-on: Should you buy it and why others are wrong?

The MagSafe Wallet is arguably the most polarizing Apple accessory for the latest iPhone 12 family of smartphones, and it takes full advantage of built-in magnets! You’ve probably seen some negative reviews online and complaints about this case. Our own Harris Craycraft himself has run into several issues on day one and got confused by a few aspects of this case. But when he actually started using it, it became clear to him what Apple was trying to achieve with this wallet accessory. We thought you might like to learn more about why Harris changed his initial opinion about the MagSafe Wallet, so we created a video about it.

The case supports up to three cards and is shielded so it’s safe for credit cards, less so with other cards (but more on that in our hands-on video walkthrough).

And now, without further ado, watch our videographer Harris Craycraft explain why everybody is wrong about the MagSafe Wallet.

Made from specially tanned and finished European leather — the same high-quality material used for other leather cases from Apple — the MagSafe Wallet was designed as the perfect way to keep your ID and credit cards close at hand, thanks to MagSafe technology.

Some RFID cards may not work with this case, like Harris’ student card

Thanks to built-in magnets, the case effortlessly snaps into place on the back of your iPhone with perfect alignment. According to Apple, you can even stack this case on top of the company’s clear, silicone or leather case with MagSafe “to create a look that’s unique to you.”

The MagSafe Wallet is available from Apple.com, Amazon and other retailers. The accessory is priced at $59 and available in Baltic Blue, California Poppy, Saddle Brown and Black.
