Apple Watch models with cellular connectivity will soon hit Belgium, an 11.5 million people market in Europe, for the first time since the wearable gained LTE connectivity three years ago.
First spotted by Dutch blog iCulture, Apple Watch models with cellular connectivity will soon arrive in Belgium with the upcoming launch supported by one provider — Telenet.
Apple had not updated its Apple Watch cellular webpage at post time to reflect that Telenet now supports cellular connectivity on LTE-enabled watches via eSIM technology. Telenet previously acknowledged the news with a press release stating that it will be offering LTE connectivity for compatible Apple Watch models beginning Friday, November 13.
Compatible models include LTE versions of the latest Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, starting from €329. Previous Apple Watch models bought in another European country will be supported, too. watchOS 7.1 is required for cellular Apple Watch support in Belgium.
The titanium Apple Watch Edition is not yet available in the country.
Telenet will also release a new app, dubbed Telenet One Number, to let customers link their existing mobile number and smartphone data to an eSIM in their Apple Watch. The smartwatch will then use the data and call minutes included in the user’s existing plan.
