WhatsApp is rolling out simpler storage management features

The Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has introduced new, simpler ways to manage storage space taken up by photos, videos, voice messages and other attachments.

You could previously delete certain items, but the new process is far simpler than before. Available via WhatsApp Settings → Storage and data → Manage storage, the new features let you review, bulk-delete and free up storage space taken up by WhatsApp media.

WhatsApp has shared a video showing it in action.

As you can see for yourself, the biggest storage hogs are now listed at the top alongside any attachments that have been forwarded a lot. You can easily select one or more files to delete in one go, as well as preview media attachments before you hit the Delete button.

Update your copy of WhatsApp for iPhone to take advantage of the new storage-management features in the app. WhatsApp is rolling out these improvements in stages so check back later if you don’t see the new storage-management option in the WhatsApp settings.

WhatsApp for iPhone is a free download from the App Store.
