Sana is a new jailbreak tweak for customizing the iOS 13 volume HUD

When Apple released iOS 13 last year, one of the most substantial new features was the redesigned volume HUD interface. It not only moved the volume HUD off to the side and out of the way, but it also made the interface touch-sensitive, enabling finger-based granular volume adjustments when visible.

If, however, you were hoping for some form of customization with regard to the new volume HUD, then you would have been let down. Fortunately, a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called Sana by iOS developer samoht provides some relief.

Among the things you can do with Sana are:

  • Change the volume HUD orientation
  • Change the sound output label
  • Change the glyph size
  • And more…

Once installed, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure Sana to their liking:

Here, you will be able to:

  • Toggle Sana on or off on demand
  • Hide or show the volume HUD’s sound output label
  • Adjust the width of the slider
  • Toggle custom glyph size on or off and choose between big or small
  • Toggle custom Y axis and adjust it to your liking
  • Respring your device to save all changes

Sana isn’t an overly complicated tweak, so anyone with an interest in changing their volume HUD appearance slightly can get started with it without the overly complicated price tag.

Sana is available for free from the Packix repository and supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices. One thing to note, however, is that the tweak works best with non-notched handsets as the volume HUD alignment may interfere with the notch. Sana is also open source on the developer’s GitHub page for those who might want to learn how it works under the hood.
