Apple TV+ is adding both classic and brand new ‘Peanuts’ specials to the lineup, plus a second season of ‘Snoopy in Space’

It’s safe to say that Apple TV+ is the home for Peanuts content, and that fact is strengthened by today’s announcement that both new and classic content is being added.

We’ve known since 2018 that Apple TV+ would be the place to see new and original Peanuts content, and that has indeed been the case since the streaming service launched last year. For example, we heard earlier this month that Apple TV+ subscribers will get to see all new adventures starring an extraordinary animated beagle named Snoopy in The Snoopy Show, which is set to premiere in February of 2021.

But that’s not all, because WildBrain today announced that it is adding the full slate of classic specials to Apple TV+ starting this month, just in time for the holidays. The first of which, the classic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, which focuses on Halloween, premieres today (October 19) for Apple TV+ subscribers. It will be free to watch for everyone using the Apple TV app between October 30 and November 1, 2020.

The other two classic specials aren’t being left out, though. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will be available to watch for Apple TV+ subscribers beginning November 18. It will then be free to watch through the Apple TV app from November 25 and November 27. Finally, A Charlie Brown Christmas will be available for subscribers to watch December 4, and then it’ll be free to watch from December 11 to December 13.

New specials on the way, and a second season of Snoopy in Space

That covers the original classic films that have entertained families for years now. But, there’s new Peanuts content on the way. Brand new specials will tackle special events like Mother’s Day, New Year’s Eve, going back to school, and Earth Day. There will even be a 70th anniversary documentary film that will premiere sometime in 2021 on Apple TV+.

New animated Peanuts originals coming to Apple TV+ include a second season of the Daytime Emmy-nominated Snoopy in Space, and a slate of brand-new specials that will find the Peanuts gang marking Mother’s Day, Earth Day, New Year’s Eve and Back to School – all to be produced by WildBrain’s animation studio. The new series and specials join the previously announced The Snoopy Show, premiering February 5, 2021; a brand-new Peanuts 70th anniversary documentary film from Imagine Documentaries and WildBrain, set to premiere next year; and the Daytime Emmy Award-winning Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10.

Unfortunately, while we now know there is a second season of Snoopy in Space in the works, we don’t know when it will premiere on Apple TV+. Hopefully that will change soon.

Are you a fan of Peanuts content? Are you looking forward to watching the classic originals on Apple TV+, as well as checking out the new specials coming soon?
