iPhone users in the United Kingdom and Canada can now see all their health records in one place, including medications, immunizations and lab results, Apple announced this morning.
Now select healthcare institutions in those countries are able offer this feature to their patients. With it, folks can see all their health records in one place, including medications, immunizations, lab results and more. The Cupertino company has worked with Cerner, Epic, Allscripts and InterSystems to enable the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources integration with the Health app for their UK and Canadian customers.
UK’s Oxford University Hospitals and Canada’s Women’s College Hospital are among the first institutions to offer this feature to their patients. The following medical institutions in the United Kingdom and Canada are currently offering this feature:
United Kingdom
- Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Oxford, UK
- Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust – Milton Keynes, UK
Canada
- Women’s College Hospital – Toronto, Ontario
- St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton – Hamilton, Ontario
- Mackenzie Health – Richmond Hill, Ontario

Previously, patients’ medical records were held in multiple locations, requiring patients to log in to each healthcare provider’s website to piece together their health information manually. Health Records creates a direct connection between medical institutions and a patient’s iPhone, allowing users to see a central view of their allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals across multiple institutions, and to be notified when their data is updated.
All Health Records data is encrypted on device and protected with your passcode, Touch ID or Face ID. Plus, the Health app talks to your healthcare organization via a direct, encrypted connection to protect your sensitive medical data both at rest and in transit.
