Aviary, North Notes, PiP-it, and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps of the week

In this week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a new Twitter client, a sharp-looking, cross-platform notes app, and a utility app that gives YouTube support for iOS 14’s picture-in-picture feature. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Aviary

It’s not very often we see a new Twitter client these days, so I had to mention this one. Aviary combines a beautiful interface with extensive features like filters, biometric app lock, Twitter Poll support, widget support, Siri Shortcuts support, and much more. Plus, buy it once and use across all platforms.

North Notes

Long-time readers will know that I’m a sucker for a pretty notes app, so of course North Notes stood out to me. It’s on both iOS and Mac, and has a ton of neat features like colored alerts, swipe to check/uncheck, and smart reminders – ‘remind me in 45.’ Check out the free version to see what you think.

PiP-it! Picture in Picture

PiP-it allows you to play videos picture-in-picture and ad-free from the YouTube app and other apps that block or don’t offer this functionality. It works with playlists, so you can watch/listen for hours, and it supports videos in the Photos and Files apps, websites with video tags and most stream URLs.

Ministry of Broadcast

Inspired by games such as Prince of Persia (1989) and Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, Ministry of Broadcast revives the spirit of classic cinematic action-adventures where players need nimble run-and-jump reflexes and a healthy aversion to falling from precarious heights. Welcome to The Wall Show.

Golf Skies

For something less intense, Golf Skies is a delightful 2D golf game with smooth gameplay and lots of fun twists. As the name suggests, you play golf up in the sky where the course is made out of planets with various gravitational fields and obstacles. The good news is, you control the ball after you hit it.
