Iconify makes missed notifications more discernible from the Home Screen

If you somehow manage to overlook the plethora of notification banners that stack up on top of one another on the Lock Screen, then you’ll be met later on with a myriad of red notification badges from the moment you authenticate and arrive at the Home Screen. But whoever said iOS’ notification experience needed to be so bland? Ah yes… Apple did.

If you’re jailbroken and ready to break free from Apple’s boring notification system for the iPhone, then you might take a liking to a newly released jailbreak tweak called Iconify by iOS developer Sirius. This tweak replaces the native notification system with something that’s both more eye-catching and friendly to user customization.

Iconify portrays missed notifications using app icon effects on the Home Screen. Various examples are depicted in the screenshot examples above, and include colored app or folder icon overlays, colored app or folder icon borders, app or folder icon animations, and more.

Once Iconify has been installed, a new preference pane is added to the Settings app where users can set up their notification aesthetics however they want:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Iconify on or off on demand
  • Enable and configure app and/or folder icon overlay
  • Configure colors individually for app icons and folder icons
  • Enable and configure app and/or folder icon overlay animations
  • Configure up to two different colors for the animation
  • Configure an animation duration
  • Choose from any of the following animation styles:
    • Fade
    • Multi-colors
    • Growth
  • Enable and configure app and/or folder border colors
  • Configure colors individually for app icons and folder icons
  • Exclude borders from the Dock
  • Configure a border weight
  • Enable and configure app and/or folder icon border animations
  • Configure up to two different colors for the animation
  • Configure an animation duration
  • Choose from any of the following animation styles:
    • Blink
    • Multi-colors
    • Growth
  • Configure custom text color
  • Make text bold
  • Hide numeric value
  • Hide alert text
  • Adjust alpha level
  • Configure gradients
  • Choose between vertical, horizontal, or diagonal gradients
  • Configure up to two different colors to use in the gradient
  • Hide or show labels

A respring button is provided at the top right of the preference pane to save any changes you make. This is recommended whenever you adjust the tweak’s options to ensure they take effect.

If a custom look and feel is something you like to have on your jailbroken handset, and you think it would apply well to your notification experience, then Iconify is available for free from the sirius247’s repository via your favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 12, 13, and 14 devices.

If you’re not already using sirius247’s repository, then you can add it to your package manager app using the URL provided below:
