Shazam now supports Picture-in-Picture and the Back Tap feature in iOS 14

One of the new features in iOS 14 is stock support for picture-in-picture (PiP), and now Shazam even supports it.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been almost three years since Apple acquired the music discovery app Shazam. But, here we are and now the app is ready for iOS 14. Shazam updated to version 13.25 today, and with it brings support for Apple’s latest mobile operating system. The changelog for this version is pretty short, but it’s not to be ignored if you’re a Shazam user.

First and foremost, Shazam now supports PiP. This means you can easily recognize music that’s playing in a video. It will still recognize music that’s playing through a strictly audio source, too, of course. But if you’ve been wanting to recognize a song playing in a video, Shazam now makes that quick and easy.

Last, but not least, is support for the Back Tap feature in iOS 14. If you forgot about this feature, it allows for a shortcut to be tied to quickly tapping the back of your supported iPhone twice. This means you can quickly launch an app, like the camera, or, even Shazam. The feature even supports both double- and triple-taps.

With the Back Tap feature support, this means you can tap the back of your phone to quickly launch Shazam, making music discovery potentially even faster.

Version 13.25 is available now. Shazam is free and you can download it now from the App Store.
