Here’s what’s new in iOS 14 beta 7

Earlier today, Apple seeded the seventh developer betas of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. The list of what’s new is short, but there is new stuff.

You’ll find what’s new in the quick list below. There’s a couple of new additions to the latest version of the prerelease software, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking. The good news is that if you use Dark Mode on your iOS and/or iPadOS device(s), there are new wallpaper options to match. Otherwise, the other change is a tweak to a banner related to connecting AirPods and a tweaked App Library.

In any event:

iOS 14 beta 7 new stuff

Dark Mode Rainbow wallpapers

  • You’ve probably seen the rainbow wallpaper options on your iOS device already. Now, there are new Dark Mode settings to help them match the system UI. These wallpapers were traditionally better matched with the Light Mode, so this will probably be a welcomed change. Image via MacRumors.

Categories in App Library

  • One of the new features in iOS 14 is the App Library. This is a way to automatically sort the variety of apps you have installed on your device. These new folders are also automatically titled, too. In the latest beta, Apple has added a few new sorting options. As of this publication, these are your options now:
    • Education
    • Arcade
    • Games
    • Social
    • Utilities
    • Information & Reading
    • Creativity
    • Other
    • Health & Fitness
    • Shopping & Food
    • Travel

AirPods connecting banner

  • This is a fix, rather than a new addition. In the previous beta seed, incorrect text would appear on the screen when connecting AirPods and/or AirPods Pro. That has been fixed in this beta.

So, there we go. Not a lot, no, but considering how close we probably are to the public launch of iOS 14, that makes sense.

Are you looking forward to this update?
