Get desktop-style banner notifications on your jailbroken iPad with iustum

It was only last week that we showed you a new jailbreak tweak called Destra, which brought a macOS-inspired banner notification experience to the iPad and iPhone. Part form minor changes to the banner notification aesthetics, perhaps one of the other eye-catching aspects about the tweak was that it made banner notifications on the iPad feel more desktop-like by moving them over to the top-right of the display rather than displaying them in the center.

If you liked the idea of right-aligned banner notifications on your iPad, but didn’t like the price tag that Destra demanded, then you might take a liking to a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called iustum by iOS developer jesseb0rn, as it brings this notification banner-centric feature in particular to pwned iPads at no charge to the end user.

Examples of iustum at work are depicted in the screenshot example above. You’ll notice that the banner notifications aren’t just right-aligned, but also more compact than they would normally be out of the box with the centered banner notification experience on the iPad platform.

At the time of this writing, iustum doesn’t come with any options to configure. For what it’s worth, the paid Destra tweak allowed users to make banner size adjustments among other things, and it remains to be seen if jesseb0rn will add configurable new features to iustum in forthcoming updates. What we do know, however, is that iustum is scheduled to be made open source in approximately three days from its release.

Those interested in trying the iustum tweak can download it for free from the jesseb0rn repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports iPads running jailbroken installations iPadOS 13.

If you aren’t already using jesseb0rn’s repository, then you can add it to your favorite package manager with the following URL:
