‘Ted Lasso’ has been renewed for a second season at Apple TV+

Ted Lasso starring Jason Sudeikis premiered on Apple TV+ on August 14, and it hasn’t even reached the end of its first season just yet, but now we can expect a second.

Variety has the report on Wednesday, saying that Apple and Apple TV+ have renewed the comedy series for a second season on the streaming service. Apple TV+ debuted the first three episodes of the first season of Ted Lasso on August 14, with the fourth episode set to debut on the service this Friday, August 21. There are 10 episodes in total in the first season.

The second season doesn’t have a specific debut date just yet, obviously, but the report says it will premiere sometime in 2021. The second season, just like the first, will consist of 10 episodes in total.

Ted Lasso is about a small-time college coach from Kansas, played by Sudeikis, who gets picked up by a major Premier League football team in England to take over coaching duties. You can check out the trailer for the first season just below.

It’s a standard fish-out-of-water scenario, but it’s played with heart by Sudeikis. What’s more, the rest of the cast is great and it makes for a genuinely fun show to watch more often than not.

The Lasso character originally appeared on NBC Sports way back in 2013 as a way for the network to promote the fact it would be covering English Premier League games. It started off as a promotional joke with Sudeikis, but the character struck a chord. As a result, NBC brought Lasso back in 2014 to be an actual analyst on live games.

And now Lasso has his own TV show (so to speak).

Have you watched the first season of Ted Lasso yet? If so, what do you think of the show? Excited about a second season?
