Apple releases macOS Catalina 10.15.6 supplemental update with stability fix and more

On the same day Apple released a minor update for iOS and iPadOS, the company is also releasing a supplemental update for macOS Catalina.

Just like the update for the mobile operating systems, this update for the desktop OS is minor in the grand scheme of things. However, it does come with a major fix for a potentially annoying issue for some owners out there in the wild. The latest software update is available now to download and install, and, as usual, it’s free.

According to Apple’s changelog for macOS Catalina 10.15.6’s latest supplemental update, the new software fixes a stability issue related to using virtualization software on the machine and more. Here’s the changelog:

macOS Catalina 10.15.6 Supplemental Update –– Restart Required

macOS Catalina 10.15.6 supplemental update includes bug fixes for your Mac.

  • Fixes a stability issue that could occur when running virtualization apps
  • Resolves an issue where an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020) may appear washed out after waking from sleep

Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices. For detailed information about the security content of this update, please visit: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222

As noted in the above text, this update will require a restart to finalize, so make sure you’ve got some time to not only download and install the new software (which measures in at 3.22GB), but also a restart (or two) during the process.
