Space, Smappy, StretchMinder, and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps of the week

In this week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a platform for listening to and taking part in live conversations, an app the encourages smiling more, and a digital work break buddy. And as always, we’ve selected two great games for you to check out.

Space – Audio Conversations

Space is a platform where folks can listen to audio conversations between others, and host some of their own. Think of it as Anchor meets Instagram Live. You can listen to folks discuss everything from sports to politics, or dive into more specific topics. As with any new app like this, its value will greatly depend on its traction.

Smappy

Studies have shown that smiling produces endorphins that can reduce stress, lower blood pressure and even boost your immune system. Smappy is an app that hopes to help you do it more by playing games designed to make you smile. Features include facial recognition, AR tech, smile timer and before-and-after mood tracking.

StretchMinder

In a similar vein we have StretchMinder. It’s a health app that offers a library of workplace-friendly, guided break routines designed to force you to take breaks and get moving. There are mindfulness breaks, walking breaks and movement breaks, and you can completely customize your routine to fit around your work schedule.

Motorball

From the creators of the popular game Golf Blitz comes Motorball. It’s essentially a top-down, 2D version of Rocket League (which I love, btw). The object is to play 1v1 soccer inside vehicles, and obviously score goals. Features include vehicle upgrades and customization, and you can watch live global matches via Motorball TV.

Titan Glory

For something more hi-res and engaging, check out Titan Glory. It’s a sci-fi mech combat game that takes place in the near future, where mech combat sports are all the rage. You take part in tournaments, in which winning matches will earn you credits that you can use to unlock and customize new mech warrior and weapons.
