Tim Cook commits Apple to donating to relief efforts in Beirut

Earlier this week, Beirut was rocked by a massive explosion that has decimated the immediate area, and Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, has confirmed the company will be donating towards relief efforts.

Cook, in a tweet, confirmed that Apple will be donating funds to various relief organizations in an effort to help with not only immediate needs, but also long-term support in Beirut. Cook added that “we grieve with the people of Lebanon”. Cook’s tweet is just below.

Earlier this week, what is said to have been 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded in the Lebanese capital city. Hundreds have been reported dead, thousands were injured, and there are still hundreds missing with search efforts now underway. As is par for the course, Cook did not detail just how much money Apple would be donating towards the relief efforts.

Apple is known for making these types of donations when major events happen all over the globe, so it’s no surprise it’s doing so now.
