American Airlines is offering Apple TV+ as a free in-flight entertainment option

While hopping on a flight might not be the number one activity these days, thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, if you do get on an American Airlines plane to go somewhere you might notice Apple TV+ joining you along the way.

According to The Points Guy, American Airlines is currently offering Apple TV+ as a free in-flight entertainment option for passengers. However, while it’s good for folks who like Apple TV+ to see the option, there are only a select number of shows available to stream while on the flight at no additional cost. The report indicates that Dickinson, starring Hailee Steinfeld, is one of those options. And the drama The Morning Show is also included, which stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, among others. Defending Jacob, starring Chris Evans, is the other show passengers can choose to watch.

American Airlines says that it will be rotating content offered by Apple TV+, so depending on when you fly you might not see the same shows available.

This is not the first time that Apple has worked with American Airlines to offer up one of its streaming services as a free in-flight option. In January of last year, Apple and American Airlines partnered up to offer Apple Music at no additional cost, as long as the flight has Viasat satellite technology on board. While American Airlines isn’t charging more, you’ll still need an Apple Music subscription to access the content, though.

As it stands right now, it doesn’t sound like passengers need to have an Apple TV+ subscription to access the content while on a flight. This could be a good way to get folks interested in the shows offered by the service. Though, Apple itself does offer its own free trial, so maybe not.
