In this week’s episode of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a timezone manager, an app that builds apps, and a digital headquarters for the surprisingly large sourdough bread-making community. And as always we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.
Overlap by Moleskine Studio
I’m a huge fan of Moleskin’s UI designs, so I had to mention their new app Overlap on this week’s list. It allows you to see multiple time zones in one view, and has nifty scheduling features like customizable ‘availability’ windows. Obviously this app serves a fairly niche audience, but it’s so pretty to look at, it’s cross-platform, and hey it’s free.
Pineapple – Build Apps
Here’s a sort of cool concept. It’s called Pineapple, and it’s an app that…helps you build apps. No real coding experience needed! Just drag the elements onto the screen, add actions, customize the appearance to your liking, and let Pineapple do the rest. It handles all of the coding (in Swift), and you can even export it to Xcode or Swift Playgrounds.
Rise – Sourdough Baking
There has certainly been a rise in sourdough bread-making interest over the past several months, and this app is looking to capitalize on that. It’s called Rise (see what I did there?), and it serves as kind of a one-stop shop for all things sourdough. It features recipes, scheduling, journaling, reminders, timers, calculators, helpful widgets, and more.
Tvinnr is an intelligent puzzle game with a simple yet elegant design. I would describe it as a ‘relaxing puzzler’ and the boiler plate description ‘easy to learn, difficult to master’ really fits here. Features include both light and dark modes, challenging achievements, virtually endless randomly-generated gameplay, and it’s cross-platform.
For something a little more exciting, check out Interloper. It’s a space flight combat simulator that will have you flying like you’ve never flown before on iPhone and iPad. You’re tasked with defending your people against the oppressive commonwealth and forced to engage in fast-paced missions. Features include MFi controller support and customizable weapons.
