Apple TV+ earns a couple of Daytime Emmy wins thanks to ‘Peanuts in Space’ and ‘Ghostwriter’

The latest batch of winners for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards were unveiled late on Sunday night, and thanks to a pair of shows designed for the family, Apple and Apple TV+ have secured some wins.

Deadline reported last night on the latest winners, with the 47th Daytime Emmy Winners leaning towards lifestyle, kids, and other specific programming of this nature. Other big winners include Trinkets on Netflix, SpongeBob SquarePantsDisney Mickey Mouse, and even Jeopardy!. However, as noted above, Apple did secure a couple of wins of its own as well.

In the category of “Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Program”, the Apple TV+ series Ghostwriter won the Emmy. It’s worth noting here that Apple TV+ was nominated for a total of 17 Daytime Emmy Awards this year, and eight of those nominations came from the show Ghostwriter.

Here’s the trailer for that series so you can get a feel for what it offers, along with the series description:

When a ghost haunts a neighborhood bookstore and starts releasing fictional characters into the real world, four kids must team up to solve an exciting mystery surrounding the ghost’s unfinished business

In another category, “Outstanding Single Camera Editing”, the animated movie Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10 won the Emmy.

In an official press release, Apple said that this marks the first time a streaming service has won a Daytime Emmy, let alone a pair of them, in its first year of launch:

Since its global launch in November 2019, Apple TV+ has landed a total of 25 awards wins and accolades, and 71 awards nominations, including Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for Jennifer Aniston at the SAG Awards and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Billy Crudup at the Critics Choice Awards; three Golden Globe Award nominations for “The Morning Show,” which were earned just shortly after the series premiered; a Peabody Award for comedy series “Dickinson”; an NAACP Image Award for the series “Truth Be Told”; and a Cinema for Peace International Green Film Award for the film “The Elephant Queen.”

These are not the only awards that Apple TV+ has secured in its short time on the market. Billy Crudup of The Morning Show secured a Critics’ Choice Award, while Dickinson, which stars Hailee Steinfeld, won a Peabody Award as well.
