Apple may release new Windows app soon

According to a report Tuesday from an Italian blog, Apple may have a new app for Windows 10 PCs in the works that could release on the Windows Store soon.

Apple working on media apps for Windows

As per a tweet last week by Italian-language blog Aggiornamenti Lumia, a mysterious new Apple app is “coming soon” to the Microsoft Store. For the sake of completeness, we should mention Apple in 2019 via a LinkedIn job listing was seeking experienced Universal Windows Platform engineers to work on the “next generation” of Windows media apps from Apple.

Universal Windows Platform is Microsoft’s modern app platform for Windows PCs. Apps developed to run on the platform support both Windows PCs and Xbox One.

Based on that, we could infer that Apple might be working to modernize QuickTime for Windows, but that’s hardly the only possibility. Another highly likely possibility would entail porting its dedicated TV, Music and Podcasts macOS apps over to the Windows ecosystem.

Apple currently provides a Windows version of iTunes for those who would like to synchronize there iOS apps, music, movies, TV shows, books, podcasts and other media with their PC. Apple also maintains an iCloud client for Windows for things like syncing contacts, files, photos and other data stored in the user’s iCloud account.

Aggiornamenti Lumia has no established track record on terms of predicting Apple product launches, cautioned 9to5Mac which spotted the tweet this morning.
