This tweak gives the iPhone’s Phone app a pleasant facelift

The Phone app that comes pre-installed on every iPhone from the factory sports a barebones and simplistic design that just works. Given its tried and true reputation, the Phone app hasn’t seen many changes over the years, and some might even argue that it’s getting a bit stale.

If you’re jailbroken, then the good news is that you don’t have to settle for a boring Phone app anymore. A newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed Bongwater by iOS developer qwertyuiop1379 breathes new life into the Phone app by bringing a highly requested Phone app redesign concept to life.

In the screenshot examples above, you’ll see that the Phone app redesign brought to the table by Bongwater is anything but boring.

The tweak brings a refreshed Phone and Contacts interface to the Phone app and lets you pin at least three of your favorite contacts to the top of the app for faster access. Perhaps more importantly, the tweak displays contact option buttons next to each contact along with their contact photo, making it easier to get in touch with someone than ever before.

As for the concept that Bongwater is based on, that credit belongs to a strongly upvoted /r/jailbreak request first shared by Reddit user n4di.

Bongwater doesn’t have any options to configure, as merely installing the tweak is enough to upgrade the Phone app’s user experience.

At the time of this writing, Bongwater isn’t being hosted on a repository, but rather via a download link in the /r/jailbreak release threadvia a download link in the /r/jailbreak release thread that can be installed via Filza. No additional dependencies are required to use Bongwater, and the tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices.
