Spotify is adding real-time lyrics support in 26 countries

When Apple introduced iOS 13 last year, it also welcomed a new feature for Apple Music subscribers: real-time lyrics support, allowing listeners to follow along with the lyrics as the song is playing with a fluid animation.

And now it looks like Spotify is ready to start rolling out a similar feature for its customers, but only in select countries for now. As reported by TechCrunch, Spotify is adding support for real-time lyrics within the app, but the feature is available to start in 26 countries. The new feature is available in these areas due to an agreement with lyrics provider Musixmatch,

Here are the countries getting real-time lyrics support beginning today:

  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Chile
  • Mexico
  • Peru
  • Costa Rica
  • Bolivia
  • Equador
  • Vietnam
  • Uruguay
  • Philippines
  • Indonesia
  • Taiwan
  • Singapore
  • Hong Kong
  • Thailand
  • Malaysia
  • Paraguay
  • El Salvador
  • Honduras
  • Guatamala
  • Dominican Republic
  • India
  • Nicaragua
  • Panama

Last year, Spotify was testing this feature in certain regions across the globe, including in Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, and Indonesia. Canadian users were also able to test the feature last year, however Spotify says that the official rollout of the feature means it won’t be available for those Canadian users any longer beginning today.

At the time of publication it remains unknown what Spotify’s expansion plans are for its real-time lyrics support, so it may be some time before it arrives in the United States, makes a return to Canada, and debuts in other markets across the globe.

Have you tried out real-time lyrics support in Apple Music? Do you like the feature?
