Earlier today, Apple released iOS 13.5.1 to the public, but the company is moving ahead with the latest developer beta for the next software update anyway.

Update (06/01/2020)Apple has seeded the corresponding public beta of iOS 13.5.5 and iPadOS 13.5.5 to public beta testers as well.

The original article continues below.

On Monday, Apple seeded the first beta of iOS and iPadOS 13.5.5 to developers. This marks the first introduction of the newest software since Apple released iOS 13.5 to the public one week ago. That software was a major update for the mobile operating system, bringing the new Exposure Notification API Apple worked on with Google to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and COVID-19, the disease it causes.

The beta also arrives on the same day that Apple released iOS and iPadOS 13.5.1 to the public, which is primarily focused on patching the recently released Unc0ver jailbreak made available for iOS 13.5.

Registered developers can download and install the first beta of iOS and iPadOS 13.5.5 right now from the official Apple Developer Center. The required developer profile must be installed to update to the pre-release software.

It’s not likely that this new software will include any major forward facing new features, but will primarily focus on behind-the-scenes tweaks, updates, and general improvements. However, if there are any new additions discovered in the new software we will update this post accordingly.
