Replay adds repeat and shuffle buttons to iOS’ Now Playing widget

Given just how invested Apple seems to be in the music industry today, it continues to baffle me to this very day that the company’s own Now Playing widget for the iPhone and iPad lacks two seemingly imperative media controls that I would otherwise use all the bleeping time: Repeat and Shuffle.

If you agree with me here, then I think you’re going to love a new free jailbreak tweak release dubbed Replay by iOS developer Simalary, because it effectively brings the two aforementioned controls to iOS’ Now Playing widget in every instance where it would normally appear.

In the screenshot examples above, you’ll see that Replay adds the Repeat and Shuffle buttons to the Now Playing widget on the Lock screen and to the expanded module in Control Center. The shuffle button appears on the left side of the widget, whereas the replay button appears on the right side.

As an added bonus, if you’ve increased the width of Control Center’s Now Playing widget with the popular BetterCCXI extension, then Replay can display these controls directly in Control Center without making you expand the module to view them. An example of this is depicted in the screenshot on the far-right.

Replay doesn’t come with any options to configure; not that it would need any. Simply installing the tweak brings these missing elements to the Now Playing interface, whereas uninstalling the tweak would remove them. Using Replay is literally as easy as enjoying a slice of your favorite-flavored pie.

Those interested in trying Replay for the sake of improving their music listening experience can download the tweak for free from the Packix repository. The tweak only supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices at this time and unfortunately does not play nicely with ColorFlow due to a conflict.

Do you feel that the Now Playing widget is more powerful with the Repeat and Shuffle options? Discuss whether you would use them or not in the comments section below.
